DNA Sexing with Blood Sample

You can use white printing paper, our
sample forms, or sample cards.
You need to identify them well and let them dry to avoid cross-contamination.
Once they are dried, please place each sample separately in a zip lock bag, and then you can place them all together in an envelope for mailing.
Each sample must go on a separate piece of paper with the proper bird identification, species, name, address, email, and phone number.

Place an online order and print our sample forms. Clean and disinfect instruments and wash hands before, during, and after sample collection. Make sure to have the correct sample form near the birds’ area. Make sure the BIRD ID matches the one you are testing.
When plucking feathers, ensure you pluck from the bird’s cloacal (vent) area. You may put them in a zip lock bag or tape them to the sample form. Make sure you never touch/tape the tip of the feather.
You can send several samples in one main envelope.

For eggshell samples, you must ensure
that they contain blood or membrane. The blood or membrane is where
we collect DNA.
Also, you will need to ensure that the eggshells are completely dry before putting them in a bag to send to us. When they are still wet, they can collect mold, which causes cross-contamination, creating a problem in DNA extraction.
Please make sure that they are dry before sending them.
